R.B. Harper, age 96, a lifelong resident of Jackson County passed away from this life on Friday, October 29th at Singing River Hospital following a brief illness. He leaves behind his loving wife, Louise Rockwell Harper.
He was the original Housemover on the Gulf Coast. As owner of R.B. Harper Housemovers for over 50 years, he trained generations in housemoving, foundation work, and the rental industry. He wore many “hats” in his lifetime, but his passion was always his family. He will forever be remembered as a loving father to many.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby R. Harper, parents, Thomas and Ella Harper, brother, Tommy Lavelle Harper, sisters; Bonnie Jean Hays, Inez Reynolds, and Earlene Dobbs (Bang), and Joyce Phillips, sister-in-law and special friend. Sons; Ronnie Harper and Kenneth Harper, Sr., Son in law; Craig Hobbs, Grandson; Kenneth Harper, Jr.
He is survived by wife, Louise Rockwell Harper, sisters; Irene Killingsworth and Shirley Harris, children; Lanelle (Ron) Goins, Linda McCarley Wilson, Tuwanna Hobbs, Linda Louise (Nick) Nicolosi, Steve Rockwell, Sheila (Ray) Medina, Telina Birch, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great—great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
Pallbearers are his grandsons; Tony Wilks, John Harper, Aubry McCarley, Brandon Freer, Blake Freer, and Rodney Harper II.
Honorary pallbearers include grandsons, great grandsons and nephews.
The family offers special thanks to nieces, Greta and Rachael, along with the staff of Singing River Hospital. Also thanks to Pastor JR Alexander, Rev. Russell McDonald, and the many Pastors that visited and prayed with him.
A visitation will be held at Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle, 10109 US Hwy 90 West, Moss Point, MS 39562, Tuesday, November 1st, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral immediately following with Pastor J.R. Alexander officiating, assisted by Rev. Russell McDonald.
