

Richard “Dick” Phelps Collier, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Pensacola, Florida on November 22, 2022. Dick was born to Paul and Anne Collier on September 30, 1938 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He attended Auburn University for two years before transferring to Florence State College. Dick had a career with IBM for over 28 years – winning multiple IBM Golden Circle Awards. He served with the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam era.
Dick was a long-time Auburn fan, as well as a fan of classic cars. He loved the water, and enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing, and spending time on the beach. Dick was a member of the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be greatly missed.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Cliff Collier.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Ann Jackson Collier; children, Demetra Collier, Derek Collier (Lisa), and Laura Collier Butler (Bleu); eight grandchildren: Shane Collier, Allyson Harris, Jason Millhollon, Ashley Simpson, Sarah Turner, Hannah Turner, Jacob Butler, and Alex Butler; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara O’Shields-Webb; brother-in-law, Roger Jackson; sisters-in-law, Kaye Jackson (Roger), Carol Jackson (Hal), and Becky Jackson (Lane); as well as nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Dick will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a Celebration of Life immediately following in the chapel.
