

Richard Edwin Mueller of Mobile, Alabama died June 13, 2012 at age 76. Dick led a full and exemplary life, encouraging everyone he met. He played basketball and was named First Team All City for Vigor High School, from which he graduated in 1953. Dick earned a basketball scholarship to Troy University and played for two years, where he was the team leading scorer as a sophomore. Transferring to Auburn University with a basketball scholarship, he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. While earning a Master's degree in engineering, he worked as a graduate assistant teacher for six additional years at Auburn. Dick began a long and successful career at the Army Corps of Engineers, which spanned over 30 years. He enjoyed Auburn sports, old cars, watching his grandsons play ball, and cherished spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Richard Mueller and Marguerite Needham Mueller; his wife, Patricia Hays Mueller. He is survived by his wife, Adrian Winger Mueller; children, Ronna Mueller Carlisle (Alan), Donna Mueller Eubanks (Shannon), Jennifer Anne Hendrix, Hannah Hendrix Klingelheber (Randy), and Paul Winger Hendrix (Ashley); siblings, Jackie Mueller Nieland (Paul) and Michael Paul Mueller; inlaws, Harold Winger (Millie), Ronald Hays (Delores), Cooper Anthony (Jeanette), Lewis Winger (Wendy); grandchildren, Richard Grant Carlisle, Robert Alexander Carlisle, Patrick Hays Carlisle, Zackary Ryan Eubanks, Bradley Reagan Eubanks, Tyler Christian Eubanks, Leah Audrey Klingelheber, Robert Randall Klingelheber, Jr., Mae Constance Klingelheber, Adam Hendrix Klingelheber, Harold Lane Hendrix, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, Saturday, June 16, 2012. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 A.M. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Hays, Cooper Anthony, Paul Nieland, Carlton Holley, Tommy Deming and Paul McCarter. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Spring Hill Baptist Church Scholarship Foundation. He is leaving a legacy of love and laughter to his family and friends.
