Robert Wray "Bob" Freeman, Sr., age 91, passed away on the morning of December 26, 2015 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Freeman died quietly of natural causes, surrounded by
the people he held dearest in his heart-his son, Richard, daughter-in-
law Katie, and daughter Jeanna.
Mr. Freeman was born in Pasadena, California on 7/1/24 to Carl and Doris Freeman, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Richard Wray Freeman, daughter Jeanna Giarra of Herndon Virginia, and four grandchildren.
Following graduation from high school Robert was drafted into the Army Air Corps, and served in World War II in the China, Burma, and India Theater. He also served following the war as part of the peace- keeping forces in Japan and Germany. Mr. Freeman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force following WWII, and served with honor for more than 20
years, retiring as a Senior Master Sargent.
Mr. Freeman retired to Port Charlotte in southwest Florida, but "Grandpa Bob" traveled frequently over the years to visit family and grandchildren, spreading love and providing comfort to young and old. Wherever he went he carried his golf clubs and swung them on some of the best courses in the United States. He loved bowling and fishing. Snook fishing was his passion. He could be found often fishing the night away under the stars of Charlotte Harbor.
Mr. Robert Wray Freeman's memorial service will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery 1/9/15. Family visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by the service.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Mobile Infirmary Medical Center and Kindred Hospice for the care and compassion they provided during Mr. Freeman's final weeks, both to him and his family. We also wish to extend thanks to the friends of the Freeman family that provided support and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Salvation Army
