

Robert Michael Huddle M.D., beloved husband of Brenda Respess Huddle died on June 23, 2025. He was the son of Eva Lee Derring and Henry Smythe Huddle. Along with his wife, he is survived by his sister Carol Ann Taylor, sons Gregory Saxon Huddle (Rebeca) grandchildren Isabel and Emma, Clark Christian Huddle (Lynn) grandchildren Christian and Sarah, William Parker Huddle (Allison) grandchildren Kate, William and Alice, and James Clifton Bradley Jr. (Ashley) grandchild Lacy.
R. Michael Huddle was born in 1940 in Bristol, Tennessee. Mike earned his Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University and then graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He interned at Columbia Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina and afterward fulfilled his military obligation as a Captain and Flight Surgeon in the US Army. Mike completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University where he also served as an instructor of medicine.
In 1974 he began his medical practice in Mobile, Alabama. With specialties in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Dr. Huddle directed the Providence Hospital Renal Dialysis Center. He and his friend, Dr. Edwin Lamberth, founded Nephology Associates in Mobile in 1976. It remains a thriving practice with eighteen doctors on staff. He grew up with a love of automobiles which endured his entire life. Boats, offshore fishing, family and his dogs captured his interest later in life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mobile Country Club on Friday June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Memorial Service is June 28th at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street at 11 a.m. followed by a family burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Kidney Patient Support - Alabama Kidney Foundation or Alabama Chapter Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
