A Baltimore native and long time Mobile resident, Robert Joseph Klaus passed away at the age of 91.
Robert served in the Army stationed in North Africa during WWII. He was a master plumber who learned the trade from his father. He moved his plumbing business to Mobile shortly after the war. He spent a few years at the U.S. Naval Air Station Pensacola after which he continued to operate his plumbing business as sole proprietor to the age of 90. Robert was well known as an amazing chef and served many wonderful meals to family, friends, and strangers too. Robert was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
A loving husband and father, Robert is survived by his wife Winnie, daughter Deborah Klaus, stepsons David Martin (Desiree), Mike Carmichael (Deborah), Casey Carmichael (Corry), 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, other relatives and numerous friends.
The Memorial Service will be held at Saint Vincent on Thursday, February 20 at 11 am with a Rosary being recited at 10:30 am.
