

Rosemary Cain Matthews- was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 26, 1920. Our angel left this life at peace and with the love of God and the Blessed Mother on August 11, 2012. Mrs. Matthews attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Bishop Toolen High School. She was founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of the Riese Club. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the Rosary every day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clyde Matthews, Sr.; parents, Edward, Sr. and Margaret Bromley Cain; brothers, Edward (Nancy), Leo, and Tom (Jean) Cain; and sisters, Myrtle Cain, Margaret (Ernest) McCormick, and Theresa (Clem) Seelhorst. She is survived by her loving children, Robert C. Matthews (Jane), Gwyn Franklin, Jeannie Mount, Connie Kling, Gerald “Jerry” Matthews (Brenda), and James O. “Jimmy” Matthews (Lynn); grandchildren, Tommy Matthews (Ann), Tammy Fikes, Todd Matthews (Leigh), Keith Franklin (Dawn), Thad Franklin (Jamie), Lori Middleton, Noel Mount (Paula), Kelly Kuemmerle (Charles), and Robert Matthews (Alicia); 21 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, James O. Matthews, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Moore, Barbara Cain, and Beverly Cain. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Monday, August 13, from 5-8 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
