Ruth Collins was born on February 7, 1924 on Mon Luis Island, Alabama. She died at Little Sisters of the Poor in Mobile, where she had been a resident for 3 ½ years on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 94.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Mon Luis and a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver. Ruth was a devoted mother and a strong willed, humble woman who lived a simple life. Ruth enjoyed her quiet time, walking, shopping at Walmart and nurturing her plants.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Clotilda, her sisters, Dorothy and Rita and brothers, Earl, Herbert and Vincent.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons Stephen (Rebecca) Collins of Pelham, AL and Roger Collins of Mon Luis Island, AL; his daughters Allie Collins and Erin Banks; her sister Athlestine Collins of Mon Luis Island; great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11`:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jim Carlson beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
