Samuel Allen Pennington, 79, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. After serving with the United States Navy, Sam went to Police Academy. He was a retired Mobile Police Officer. He was the youngest ever appointed to the rank of “Sargent” with the Mobile Police force, and was a polygraph specialist. Sam loved Alabama Football, trains, and animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Franklin Pennington Sr. and Josie Camille Woodruff Pennington, as well as one brother, Lloyd Franklin Pennington Jr.
Sam is survived by one brother, Mike (Sherrie) Pennington; two step-daughters, Alicia (Gerard) Tarrant and Ashley (Chris) Driskell; six grandchildren: Aidan, Brennan, Annabelle, and Baileigh Joy Tarrant, Lynnley and Eli Driskell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members.
A graveside service for Sam will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. Honorary Pallbearers include all Mobile Police Officers past and present.
