
TURNER Selwyn Horace Turner, Jr. Age 76, a native of Mobile and resident of Daphne, died after a brief battle with cancer on Friday, June 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selwyn Horace Turner and Frances Whiting Turner. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carol Davidson Turner; four children, Dr. Kathleen Turner Inge, Selwyn Horace Turner III (Elizabeth), James Druhan Turner, and Alletta Turner Brown (Stephen); four grandchildren, Whiting Inge Mostellar (Hamp), Margaret Erwin Inge, Alice Turner Frost (Richard), and Selwyn Horace Turner IV; two great grandchildren, Margaret Joyce Mostellar, and Henry Crawford Mostellar, one sister, Mary Hunter Turner Slaton and an aunt, Buck Ross St. John. He is also survived by several nephews, cousins and other relatives. He graduated from University Military School and Vanderbilt University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Daphne and retired as a Trustee of the US Bankruptcy Court. He was a member of the Country Club of Mobile and several mystic societies. He and his blue truck will be missed by many, young and old. Selly will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, quick mind, and unforgettable nicknames. Graveside services will be held at Magnolia Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011. Pallbearers will be Stephen Joseph Brown, Selwyn Horace Turner IV, Robert Hampton Mostellar, Dr. James Richard Frost, Henry Crawford Slaton, Jr., Selwyn Turner Slaton and William Edward Slaton. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your favorite charity.
