

Affectionately known as “Big Mama,” Shelia’s vivacious spirit and sharp wit ignited joy and love. With her infectious smile and laughter, she turned ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. She was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Alice Blackmon; sisters, Florentine Hansberry, Emily Alexander, Claudette Robinson, Rachel Blackmon and Shirley Smoots.
Retired from Montgomery Ward, she was a 1969 graduate of L. B. Williamson High School and a dedicated member of Delaware St. Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the choir.
Forever remembered by her four devoted daughters, Deidra T. (Sanford) Craig, Alice D. Bloxton, Cynthia A. (Leron) Lewis and Jeanne M. (Tobias) Fikes, all birthed from the union with Henry E. Bloxton; brother, Coras Blackmon; three sisters, Francine (George) Wilson, Catherine (Samuel) Laughlin and Zelda Blackmon; nine grandchildren, Alisha Francis, Craig Francis, Laurice E. Moore, Tyrese T. Moore, Larry Major III, Halia Major, Henry Eugene Bloxton, Taquan Fikes and Takias Fikes; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Shelia will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile. A Homegoing Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Delaware Street Missionary Baptist, with interment in Pine Crest Cemetery immediately following.
