Sheri Ann Clay Conway, native of Rochester, New York and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur James Conway, Jr., mother, Marie Rose Clay, father, Charles W. Clay, sister, Nancy Clay and brother Charles Matthew Clay.
Sheri entered the convent in Baltimore, MD in 1959, later moving to Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Irondale, AL. She left the convent in 1965, and taught second grade at Holy Family School. She married Arthur James Conway, Jr. in 1966 and soon after started her family.
Mrs. Conway is survived by her brother, David Michael Clay, sons, Arthur James Clay, III and Clay Patrick Conway, grandchildren, Seren Rose Conway and Devon Reef Conway, beloved nieces Beth, Jessi, Erin and Shannon and nephews Leland, Ryan and Brandon.
Family and her deep Catholic faith were everything to her, and her home was always open and welcoming to those in need of a safe place to land. This led to her being a "mom" to those who needed her the most. Her loving affection and humor will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment in Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy., will immediately follow.
