The visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile with Pastor Daniel Godwin, formerly of Wilmer Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home.
Sue was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, to William Hoppe and Wilma Hoppe (Lemons) on March 28, 1942. She married Dennis Lyonell Massey on May 2, 1972, in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from South Florida University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama for 20 years and as an award-winning real estate agent for 10 years with Prudential Cooper. She was a member of Wilmer Methodist Church and sung in the choir. She and Dennis were active participants and traveled with the Springhill Stompers Square-dancing Group.
Sue is preceded in death by her son, Christopher Massey; her parents, William and Wilma Hoppe; her brother; Phillip Hoppe; and sister, Annabelle Walker (Hoppe).
Sue is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis; her daughter Rebecca Finch (Ron); her stepsons Dennis Lee Massey and Gilbert Massey (Carolyn); and her grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Massey, Gilbert Massey, Bryn Bentley, Jackson Finch, Christopher Bentley and Ron Finch.
