Theresa Palmero Douglas (ninety-two) passed away peacefully after a long illness. She was born October 31st. 1924 in Mount Vernon, New York where she was raised as a child. She married Alden Eugene Douglas a sailor in the United States Navy and a veteran of two wars. They eventfully moved to Mobile in the early 1950’s. She retired from the Corp of Engineers as a permit specialist on her birthday October 31st. 1990 with 13 and one half years of service. She was given numerous awards for her dedicated service.
They had five children together, Ellen, Katherine, Alden (Dewey), Kevin and David. Theresa became a widow in her early thirties as Alden passed away suddenly at the age of 32. Theresa was a war veteran widow for over sixty years and raised five children alone. She loved her family dearly and loved to help people in need. She will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
