Mr. Thomas A. Clinton, native of Tuscaloosa, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Mr. Clinton is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew William and Bernice Blackshear Clinton, sister, Eleanor Fannin and spouse, James Fannin. Mr. Clinton graduated from the University of Alabama in 1962 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was the captain of the Rifle Team while he attended UA. After college, he and his wife, Peggy, moved to Mobile where he started his career at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He spent most of his career at the Corps working on military projects. He traveled extensively in Central America, working on projects in Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and El Salvador. He eventually became a Project Manager for Corps construction projects on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. He oversaw the planning and construction of the Sparkman Center at Redstone. Mr. Clinton retired from the Corps of Engineers after 43 years of service. He later worked for Thompson Engineering for several years. Mr. Clinton was a life member of the Society of American Military Engineers, where he served in various officer positions and mentor roles. He was an avid tennis player and spent many hours on the tennis court until the age of 75. He loved Alabama football and basketball. He and his wife of 57 years enjoyed playing bridge with their many friends over the decades. Mr. Clinton is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Stephenson Clinton and daughters; Cathy Meyer (Jeff), Susan Clinton, and Jennifer Cathey (James). He is also survived by his two grandsons, Blake and Matthew Meyer, who he adored. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Catholic Church on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Interment will follow in Pine Crest West Cemetery, Snow Road, Mobile, AL. Memorial donations may be offered to CurePSP or the Catholic Social Services Arch Dioceses of Mobile.
