
Thomas Peter Czepiel – born May 2, 1932, in Deep River, CT, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at his home in Theodore. He graduated from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT with a BS in Chemistry. He received his Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lawrence University, Appleton, WI. He received his PhD in chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical paper Making, Lawrence University. Dr. Czepiel has a degree in Advanced Management from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. He holds numerous patents for paper making. He worked 36 years for Scott paper Company in Philadelphia, Maine Detroit, Seattle, and Mobile until his retirement as Corporate Vice President of Manufacturing in 1994. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and a communicant of St. Francis Episcopal Church, Dauphin Island. He was an avid supporter and former Board Member of the Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens (MARC). Mr. Czepiel was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Peter Czepiel, and his first wife, Marilyn “Molly” Czepiel. He is survived by his wife Sally; children, James Thomas Czepiel (Maureen) of Denver, CO and Steven Mather Czepiel and William Peter Czepiel, both of Mobile; step-son, Todd Pitts (Lori) of Grand Rapids, MI; step-daughter, Pamela DuBois of Mobile; granddaughters, Megan Czepiel and Katherine Czepiel of Houston, TX; step-granddaughters, Amanda, Allison, and Rebecca Pitts of Grand Rapids; step-grandson, Christopher DuBois of Chicago, IL; and his brother, Robert Czepiel (Anne) of Old Saybrook, CT. The family will receive friends at the family home, 3294-D Dog River Road in Theodore on Sunday, September 18, from 2-5 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Deep River, CT.
