Thomas was born on January 22, 1938, and grew up with a strong sense of duty, integrity, and love for his country. He proudly served in the Army for his nation from 1956 through 1959, and his service and sacrifice remained sources of lifelong pride.
After his time in the service, Thomas built a life rooted in hard work, humor, and devotion to his loved ones. Friends and family will remember him for his long, entertaining stories, and his sharp sense of humor. Thomas was married 51 years to the true love of his life. They both had a special place in their heart for their rescued children – the love given to these animals was heartwarming and genuine.
In these past few years, you could ride through Tommy’s neighborhood and see him cutting yards for others in need. Even though he had no legs, he would tell you he was here to serve while he still could. In previous years you could find Tommy singing his karaoke at different nursing homes and, he and Mabel would make gowns to take to “The Little Sisters of the Poor” – he loved to cook his famous biscuits and cakes. He also loved to hunt, fish and shrimp. If you dare go out on the boat with him – don’t expect to be back home anytime soon – those who knew – knew!
Thomas Swindle was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Swindle Jr. He is survived by his children, Tim Swindle and Katrina Swindle Carrera. He leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, along with countless friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025. A family viewing will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a family and friends viewing from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The chapel service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Thomas will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
