Tim's life was devoted to his family, friends and the service of our state and nation. An unfalteringly brave, warm and sage man, he was greatly loved and respected by the many individuals whose lives were intertwined with his own. Prior to retirement, Tim had achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel with the Alabama Army National Guard and Chief with the Mobile County Sheriff's Department. After thirty years of service in the US military and law enforcement, Tim enjoyed a full and happy retired life with his best friend and loving wife, Andrea.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William Elbert Barbour; his father-in-law, Andrew Hubbard Diamond; sister, Patricia Ellen Barbour and his nephew, Jared Joseph Barbour.
He leaves to love him still, his wife, Andrea Diamond Barbour; his daughter, Lauren M. Barbour Jones (Daniel); step-son, Michael Wayne Kittrell, Jr. (Joy); brothers, Christopher Joseph Barbour (Cheryl) and William Michael Barbour (Fran); mother-in-law, Doris Lauber Diamond; sister-in-law, Sylvia Diamond Gray (John); grandchildren, Megan Savell Kittrell and Michael Wayne Kittrell, III; seven nieces and nephews, Ashley Gray Smith (Reginald), William Andrew Gray, Michael Patrick Barbour (Loren), Jonathan Keelan Barbour, Kelly C. Barbour Bagwell (Jeremy), Seann William Barbour and Kathryn Ann Barbour; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Catholic Charities.
