Timothy "Gary" Smith - A native of Mobile, AL and resident of Daphne, AL passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at home. Mr. Smith retired with the Mobile Fire Department with over 38 years of service. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob H. Thomas and brother, Joel C. Smith. Survivors include his wife, Susan Blackmon Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Knapp and Joshua Knapp; son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Smith and Laura Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Carter and Jeffery Carter, Jr.; grandchildren, MacKenzie, Hunter, Ryan, Peighton, Sophie, Levi, MaKenna, and Mason; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela Smith Watson and Tom Watson; brother and sister-in-law, Mark C. Smith and Dee Smith. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Public Education Unit of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.
