Born on March 2, 1935, to Glass Marshall Leatherwood and Julia McMillan Leatherwood, Timothy Miles Leatherwood passed away quietly at home in Mobile on April 23, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Ann Morrow Leatherwood, his grandson, Thomas Franklin Hansknecht, and his son-in-law, Thomas Joseph Hansknecht. He is predeceased by his daughter and only child, Julie Hansknecht, as well by his two sisters, Elisabeth Boyles and Roberta Fulton. He is survived by two much beloved cousins, Russ Johnson and Blair Johnson, by his nephew Rob Boyles and grand-nephew Scott Boyles, his niece, Kate Suffich, as well as by another cousin, Marshall McMillan.
After his retirement from the State Docks over twenty-five years ago, Tim spent much of his time raising Australian Shepherds. He had two champions, Bree and Ghost. One of the puppies, Fannie, was still with him when he died, as was a hundred-pound dog he rescued from the county animal shelter. He probably achieved his greatest pleasure fishing off a pier on Dog River that belonged to his best friend, Larry Hamilton. He loved all things relating to Mobile Bay. Furthermore, he enjoyed the arts, especially music from orchestral to a cappella; he also had practical skills: he enjoyed cooking at home and fixed delicious meals for family and friends.
