Ursula Karoline Bates

Mrs. Ursula Karoline Blomberg Bates, age 92, longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Dr. Harry T. Bates, her parents, Wilhelm and Johanna Blomberg and her three sisters.

Mrs. Bates was born in Bohem, Germany and survived the terrorist of Nazi, Germany. Ursula and Harry met in Salzberg, Austria and worked at the American Hospital in Germany before moving to Mobile, AL around 1956. She worked alongside her husband as his office manager and dental hygienist at Dr. Harry T. Bates Dental Clinic until retirement.

Mrs. Bates is survived by her sons; Charles A. Bates and Thomas E. Bates (Jennifer) and daughter, Susan Bates Hardman. She is also survived by her three grandchildren; Harry and Joe Hardman and Rachel Locklin.

Visitation will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
