

The South Alabama area lost a woman of substance on December 20, 2017. Virginia Yeatman Key was a gracious Southern lady who was also well ahead of her time. She lived a rich and rewarding life touching lives of many through her encouragement and generosity of spirit.
Virginia was born in Anniston, AL and reared in Birmingham. After marring Robert E.L. Key, the couple lived in Charleston, Boston and Washington, D.C. as a result of WWII. She served as an Executive Assistant to a naval Captain at the Pentagon in D.C. Upon moving home to Evergreen, AL. Virginia was a devoted wife to Judge Key and worked in the banking industry for 32 years. She rose to serve as Vice President of Regions Bank, Evergreen, AL. at that time. Virginia was a long time active member of Evergreen Baptist Church and also an avid reader and gardener. She then moved to Mobile, AL. for thirteen years.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Judge Robert E. L. Key and sister Dorothy Yeatman Seifert.
Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Ann Key Scott (H. Eldon III), grandchildren Henry Eldon Scott IV (Michelle) and Catherine Key Scott Ashbee (Zachary) and seven great grandchildren; all of Mobile, AL and Nephew Dr. William M. Bateman, Monroe, LA.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Magnolia Cemetery, Evergreen, AL. at 2:00 p.m.
