

Walker Radford Greaves passed to his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2012. Born in Mobile, Alabama 90 years ago to Thomas Guy Greaves, Sr. and Ellen duVal (nee) Radford, he grew up on Ricarby Place and Westwood Street in the company of his siblings Thomas (Tommy), Florence (Flossie), and John. During World War II he joined the US Navy and served as a flight instructor in Corpus Christi, Texas flying Steermans, SNJ's, and SNB's. After the war, he returned to Alabama, graduated from the University of Alabama Business School, and more importantly he met Elsie (nee) Tyson- the love of his life. After graduation they returned to Mobile and began their married life. Over the 50 years of their marriage, Walker and Elsie shared a passion for conservative politics, a long and abiding faith and both enjoyed travel. His career started in sales with Sherwin-Williams and he retired as owner of the Gleem Paint Center. Walker is survived by his sister Flossie Leatherbury, his children: Tyson, Beth, Loxley, and Sarah; his grandchildren: Donald Parmer, Jason Greaves, Addison Greaves, Frankie Young, and Melissa Fox; and great grandchildren: Zachary Beaudreaux, Caroline Beaudreaux, and Silas Fox. There will be a memorial service at Radney's Funeral Home (3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL) Wednesday September 19th with the parlor open at 5:30 p.m. and the service starting at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Home of Grace for Women, 394 Aldock Street, Eight Mile, AL. 36613.
