He graduated from Murphy High School and earned an Associate's Degree at Faulkner Community College. He began his career at Scott Paper Company, retiring in 1994 after 36 ½ years of service. Mr. Erdman was an active member of the Azalea Masonic Lodge #898 F&AM serving as Past Master and the Abba Temple Shrine where he transported children to the Shrine's Orthopedic and Burn Clinics. He married Sue Smith on October 11, 1957 in Petaluma, CA. He was a member of Forest Park Bible Church and a charter member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Fowl River, AL. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1955 until 1958. He was a devout family man who taught his children and grandchildren to be the strongest character person they could be. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had many longtime close friends. His favorite saying was, "Never give up".
