Walter B. “Dick” Erickson Jr., age 93, a native of New Jersey and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died on December 3, 2017. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He retired from Dravo Corporation, formerly Southern Industries, in 1983. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Martha Waller Erickson and is survived by his sweetheart of 11 years, Sadie Willingham. He is also survived by his son, Walter B. “Ben” (deLancey) Erickson III; grandchildren William E. “Bill” (Tina) Erickson and Walter B. “Ben” (Beth) Erickson IV; great-grandchildren Siddha Jane Erickson, William E. Erickson Jr., and Emma Louise Erickson. Dick never lost his mischievous sense of humor. For many years he enjoyed fishing and shrimping on his boat the MarKat. He was devoted to his family and well loved in return. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL, on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. followed by graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery.
