Wayne Varner Nichols

Mr. Nichols was a 1968 graduate of Davidson High School. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1972. Mr. Nichols worked in the engineering field for over 40 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. In his youth, Mr. Nichols was very involved with baseball, playing Little League, Dixie League, and Babe Ruth and was a member of the junior varsity squad at Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Henry Nichols, Jr., and Mary Charles Holladay Nichols.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Brenda Nichols; children, Timothy H. Simmons (Nicky), James Randall Simmons (Levitia), Jennifer Ruth Cook (Laine), and Joshua Varner Nichols; brother, Grady H. Nichols (Gene); 14 grandchildren, Kaylea, Maddy, Acadian, Brianna, Randall, Morgan, Zachary, Ali, Tori, Gage, Lainie, Jaylin, Joshua, Jr., and Jazzley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 1:30-3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
