

Wiley E. Carr, Jr., 95, a native of Citronelle, Al and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died December 21, 2015. He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Doris Davis Carr, a native of Castleberry, AL. He is survived by two sons, Dr. John E. Carr of Albertville and his wife Linda Carr, Robert M. Carr of Alexandria, VA; one daughter, Gloria J. Carr of Grant, AL; five grandchildren: Cameron Carr and his wife, Cassie who are the parents of his great niece, Amelia Pearl Carr, of Sparks NV, Samantha Carr of Sparks, NV, Rebecca, Rachel and Ruth Anne Carr of Perry, FL; one brother, Robert E. Carr and his wife, Mary, of Mobile, AL; and other relatives. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Albertville, AL, formerly of Sage Ave. Baptist Church in Mobile. He was a 1940 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile and was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. He also played baseball in the old Mobile City League in the late 1930's with the Betbeze team. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served with the Army Air Corps Air Transport Command in China during World War II and with the Military Air Transport Service during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 49 in Mobile. He was a former employee of Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile and was transferred to the Defense Supply Agency in Columbus, OH in 1962 and later to the Air Force Logistics Command in Dayton, OH and then to the Ballistic Missile Defense Logistics Command in Huntsville, AL. He retired from Federal Civil Service in December 1975. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015, from Radney Funeral Home in Mobile at 2:00 p.m. Friends may visit from noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial donations to their favorite church or charity. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
