

Born on March 1, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, William lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep devotion to his family. He attended Seacrest High School in Delray Beach, Florida, and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, where his service reflected a strong sense of duty and love of country.
Following his military service, William went on to play a pivotal role in history as an employee of NASA from 1964 to 1969, contributing to the making of Apollo 7 through Apollo 12, including the historic Apollo 11 mission that first landed humans on the Moon. He later continued his career in aerospace with Boeing in Seattle, Washington before settling his family in Mobile, Alabama, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Above all else, William was a devoted family man. He shared 64 years of marriage with his late wife, Phyllis. He was a loving father and is survived by his children, Steven Ludt, Scott (Marie) Ludt, and Susan Ludt, a proud grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather, all of whom brought him immense joy and purpose. The family extends heartfelt thanks to family friend David Hall for his compassionate care and unwavering support.
William will be remembered for his kindness, his love for family, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His quiet strength and steady presence meant more than words can express.
A graveside service will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, with military honors.
