
William C. “Strick” Strickland – age 86, born May 7, 1924 to W.E. “Bill” and Linda Marie Calloway Strickland passed away on January 6, 2011. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then worked for Sears & Roebuck for more than 20 years, after which he went into self-employment in Fairhope. After retirement, he lived in Phoenix, AZ for 15 years before returning to Mobile in 1988. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Opal Duck Strickland; two sisters, Willodean S. Holley of Mobile and Josephine Strickland of Canoe, AL; members of his wife’s family; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, December 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Interment with military honors will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
