

Bro. Willie Earl Finney, a native of Wilcox County, Alabama and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. Born January 17, 1941. At the age of 83, he exchanged his life for “Eternity” March 22, 2024. Willie Earl was preceded in death by his parents; Deacon William (Essie Mae) Finney, Sister, Aretha May Finney, Brothers, Lindburg Finney, Isaiah Finney, James Finney, and Grandson, Melvin Allen, Jr.
Willie Earl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Lily Baptist Church. He attended Anne Manie High School. He was employed with the Ryan Walsh Stevedoring Company as a Gear man. He was a member of Local 1410 Union and a charter member of MSSA- ILA Local 1985 Union.
Willie Earl leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife, of 51 years of marriage, Vertis Finney, two sons Willie (Sonya) Finney, Jr. and John (Stephanie) Finney, of Falls Church, Virginia two devoted daughters Belinda Gaston, and Vanessia Matthews, of Mobile, Alabama, five sisters Loretta Grover, of Mobile, Alabama, Emma (Edward) Ransom and Louise Finney of Yellow Bluff, Alabama; Lillie Hall, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Patricia (Larry) Hudson of Suwanee, Georgia; two brothers William Finney, Jr. of Pontiac, Michigan; Dwight (Cheryl) Finney of Clarkston, Michigan; Eleven Grandchildren, Lequita Gaston, of Brooklyn, New York, Sade’(Robert) Fuller, Destynee (Kendall) Pride, of San Antonio, Texas, Sheresa Finney, Marcus Finney, Tiara Finney, Nicole Finney, Darius Finney, Jonae Finney, John Jr. Finney, and Jasmine Newman, all of Falls Church, Virginia, Fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Willie Earl will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a Homegoing Celebration beginning at 1. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
