Willodean was kind and loving, strong and independent, and always spoke her mind. She was a devout Christian and long time member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. She honored her right to vote and assisted at the voting polls for many years. Her husband was a member of the Mystics of Time Mardi Gras Society and she enjoyed participating with him in parades and other events for many years. She was a long time resident of Macy Place and, although she had no children of her own, she enjoyed watching generations of children grow up on the street and was referred to as the "Matriarch of Macy Place".
Willodean was preceded in death by her parents; William Edward and Linda Marie Calloway Strickland, her beloved husband of 29 years; Thomas Lipton Holley, a brother; William (Bill) Strickland whom they called “Strick”, and a sister-in-law; Opal Strickland.
Left to cherish the beautiful memory, Willodean leaves behind one sister; Josephine Strickland, nephew; Malcolm Harrelson and wife Cheryl, along with so many friends that she accepted and loved as her own family.
Honoring Willodean as pallbearers will be Pat Hall, Will Edmonds, Malcolm Harrelson, John Dahlen, David Reuss and Jackson Reimer.
