On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Yvonne Wehl Van Hyning passed away at the age of 84. Yvonne was born in Jackson, Mississippi to Marvin and Louise Wehl on June 15, 1938. Yvonne graduated from Spring Hill College and received a master’s degree from The University of South Alabama. Yvonne worked as a teacher and guidance counselor for BC Rain High School prior to marrying her husband of 49 years, Don Van Hyning, and raising their son, Kevin.
Known for her beautiful smile and warm laugh, Yvonne had a passion for cooking and was an avid piano player. She was a beacon of deep love, emotional support and kindness to her husband and only son and selflessly dedicated much of her life to caring for her ailing mother. She was a devout Catholic and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Don and parents Marvin and Louise Wehl. She is survived by her son, Kevin, her brother Marvin J. Wehl Jr, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 beginning at 1:00 pm at Pine Crest cemetery located at 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy in Mobile, AL; funeral service begins at 2:00 pm.
