Peter C Caldwell

Peter C. Caldwell, age 68, originally from Winona, MN, passed away peacefully at Rush University Hospital in Chicago, IL, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Pete was the devoted husband of Catherine A. Caldwell for 42 years, and the proud and loving father of Vanessa J. Caldwell-McNulty and Therese M. Caldwell. He was a cherished brother to Mark Caldwell, Lynne Caldwell, Bob Caldwell, Lori Larson, and Tony Caldwell, and is also fondly remembered by their partners and spouses: Lora Aeliot, Pam Caldwell, Bruce Larson, Diane Caldwell, Lavall McNulty, and Derek Dillon.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Therese Caldwell, and by his uncle, Bob Libera.

Pete spent more than 30 years working for Poly Systems, where he took great pride in his work and the lasting friendships he built. He faced a long illness with quiet determination, never losing his work ethic, humor, or the steady kindness he showed to everyone around him.

Pete was, above all, his own man. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, tell a long story, crack a bad joke, or share his unmistakable sense of humor—often with a cold Miller High Life in hand. He loved games of all kinds, hunting for a good bargain, and cheering for his teams: a lifelong Minnesota Twins fan and longtime Minnesota Vikings fan, until the heartbreak became too much and he switched allegiance to “Da Bears.”

A graduate of Cathedral Grade School and Cotter High School in Winona, MN, Pete went on to attend the College of St. Theresa right after high school, where he was welcomed to study through his mother’s connection to the school. He later graduated cum laude from Winona State University. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to hear one of his stories or share in one of his laughs.

Interment will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Casper Creek Natural Cemetery in Galena, Illinois. Pete was a good man, a good friend, and a one-of-a-kind soul. He will be fondly remembered and forever loved.
