He was the son of the late Carmela and Peter Persano. Fred, as his family called him served in the Navy during World War II and was proud to be a veteran member of the White Hills Volunteer Fire Department. He loved woodworking, gardening and caring for his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Alfred Persano of Georgia, Peter Persano of Derby,Thomas Persano and his wife Kim of Beacon Falls and his daughter, Corie Blanck and her husband John of Shelton. He is the loving grandfather to three grandchildren, Leah Persano, Jonathan and Christine Blanck. He also leaves two sisters, Dolores Gamelin and Helen Proto of West Haven along with many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony Persano, John Persano and Louis Persano and one sister Annette Savenelli. His family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Vitas Hospice Care at St. Mary's Hospital for their loving care and compassion in our time of need. Gallager & Son Community Funeral Home, Monroe from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Church in Shelton.
