

He was a graduate of Central High School and Design Engineering school. Andy was a Navy veteran of WWII and served on the USS Macon.
Andy, along with his loving wife Florence, have been long-time residents of Monroe since 1956. A member of St. Stephen’s and for over four decades a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church where he was a dedicated volunteer and one of the original Scout leaders of Troop 163. A very important part of Andy’s life was as a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Andy worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for 35 years at United Technologies and its subsidiaries.
He was predeceased by his sisters Mildred Gambardella (Serino) and Rita Conigliaro.
Andy is survived by his spouse Florence R. Amalfitano (Spano) married Sept. 30, 1950 at St. Ann’s in Bridgeport, CT, and his children Andrew M. Amalfitano (Jill) of Colorado and Michael T. Amalfitano, Sr. (Andrea) of Florida, six grandchildren: Michael, Owen, Bryn, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jessica, and three great-grandchildren: Evelyn, James, Nathaniel, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Andy was devoted to his faith, family and friends and had a dedicated belief in volunteerism.
Andy was a lifelong NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Jude Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. Condolences may be offered at Spadaccinofuneralhome.com.
