Andrew F. Lugris, of Tampa, FL, formerly of Monroe, CT, passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2016. He was 77. Andy had a long and successful career in logistics, starting with the US Army where he proudly served for two years during the Vietnam era. He later applied his skill in logistics to the automobile industry, most notably at Saab-Scania, Saab Cars USA, and Fiat Motors. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, sailing, flying, and trap/skeet shooting, where he excelled in each. He had a life-long passion for woodworking, having crafted a variety of furniture pieces, and later woodturning, where he enjoyed creating beautiful bowls. He enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod, where he first vacationed in 1970. He had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a gift for storytelling. Those who knew him would agree that he embodied his belief in honesty and integrity. He was a fine man who was truly loved, and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved and devoted family, wife Carol and son Christopher; father-in-law Gordon Wheeler of Ansonia; sister-in-law Susan Laverty of Naugatuck; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends. Gifts in his memory can be made to The Salvation Army, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Wounded Warriors.
