Sister Barbara Sudol

She was born to George and Angela (Nellie) Sudol on August 21, 1942. She was the second oldest and the only girl of four siblings. Sister attended Our Lady of Czestochowa School, Brooklyn, New York and St. John Villa Academy, Staten Island, New York. She worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth on January 8, 1960.

All of Sister’s ministerial life was spent in teaching at the elementary, high school and college level in schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. Sister Barbara was an author of several published books – spiritual and fiction work. Sister served three years as Superior of Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent before retiring from ministry in July of 2020.

Upon her retirement, she continued to draft books, enjoyed opportunities for prayer in chapel and stayed connected with family and friends. Sister will be remembered as a person who loved her Religious Congregation, her family and friends and one who could see the humor in the situations through which she lived. She is survived by the Sisters of her Religious Community, her brother Edward Sudol and his wife Jean, her brother, Brother Ignatius Sudol, OH. She was predeceased by her brother, George Sudol and his wife Jeanne.

Funeral services for Sister Barbara will take place in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Monroe, CT on, December 3, 2025. Hours for Visitation are 10am – 11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.
