Carl Raymond Matthews

Carl Raymond Matthews Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, age 65, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Carl was born June 14, 1947, in Stamford, to Joseph and Helen Markovich. He was a graduate of Stamford High School and Sacred Heart University, and worked at Network Synergy in Trumbull.

Carl was the loving husband of Patricia Schroeder Matthews, whom he wed on May 2nd, 1971. He is survived by his daughter Trisha and her husband Joseph Orlando, son Carl Jr. and his wife Lele, son David, daughter Laura, as well as four loving grandsons, Joseph Orlando Jr., Kyle Orlando, Tyler Matthews and Dylan Matthews.

Carl is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Karen and Atherton Lowry, his sister Jane Hollis, and his brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Faith Markovich, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He also loved and was loved by many friends and co-workers.

Carl adored his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He also loved the simple company and enjoyment of conversing with the many who were a part of his life. His hobbies included spending time outdoors and working on cars. He will be remembered for his friendly personality, good humor and smile. He will also be remembered for his ability to fix anything and his willingness to help anyone at anytime, while never expecting anything in return.

Calling hours are Friday August 24, from 4pm-8pm at the Spadaccino & Gallagher funeral home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10am at St. Stephens Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull.
