

Dominick A. Quinto Sr., age 83 of Monroe, beloved husband of the late Phyllis Vena Quinto entered into eternal rest on Thursday October 18; at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Dom was born in Bridgeport on April 8, 1929 the son of the late Samuel and Eva Savino Quinto and attended Central High School. Dom was employed at Michael Hoffman Fuel Company in Bridgeport for 19 years, before becoming self-employed as President of Quinto's Oil Burner Service. Dom also was one of the original owners of the Monroe Sports Center. Dom was hired by the Town of Monroe as the first Parks and Recreation Maintenance Superintendent in charge of William E. Wolfe Park (conception 1973) until his retirement in 1994. He was Acting Parks and Recreation Director December 1973 - June 1974 and December 1975 - June 1976. But sport’s was his passion...
Dom was Player - Manager for the Hoffman Fuel Fast Pitch Softball Team in the 1950's.

All-Star Manager 1968. Monroe Little League Board of Directors 1967 - 1970.
He helped organize the Varsity M Booster Club to raise funds to start a football program at Masuk H.S.
Board of Directors 1968 - 1971. Dom started the first Youth Recreation Basketball League in 1971, serving as Director for 23 years. He also started the first Recreation Girls Softball League in 1974, serving as Director for 15 years.

Dom helped start and incorporate the Monroe Lions Pop Warner Football League in 1966. As Head Coach of the 7th and 8th grade Lions he was undefeated five years in a row; and won the Candlewood Valley League title five years running and won the Division 9 of the 10 years he was with the program 1971 - 1980. In 1973 was appointed first Athletic Director 1973 - 1980. In 1976 was elected Vice President of the CVL. In 1977 was elected President for two terms 1977 and 1978. His 1978 Lions won the feature game of the Walt Disney World Bowl (Orlando, FL.) defeating Deland, FL 43-6! In 1979 was chosen to coach at Joe Namath Football Camp. Dom then graduated to Masuk High School, where he was Assistant Coach five years and Head Coach for another seven. His tenure as the Panthers' Head Coach was his most distinguished in the sport. He inherited a 1-9 team, but in his second season the team won nine games in a row and finished 9 - 1. Dom was the first Coach to lead Masuk to State Championship game in 1985 and 1986. One of his biggest enjoyments was that he could further a student-athlete's education through football! Dom was a lifetime Yankee fan as well as an avid Uconn Women’s Basketball supporter. Inducted into Who's Who's In Government Services in 1990. Football Field dedicated after him in 1993.. Dom Quinto Field at Wolfe Park Monroe. Dom is survived by his son Dom Jr. of Pembroke Pines, FL. and fiancée Marie Sampieri, daughter Donna Ironside and husband Kevin of Monroe, grandchildren Kyle and Kelly Ironside and fiancé Chris Anderson; brother Samuel Quinto of Oxford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son David and sister Carmella Odice. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday Oct. 22, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Stephen Church 6948 Main Street Trumbull, CT 06611 with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery Newtown, CT.
