Edward John Wojna, 90, of Monroe, CT, husband of Elsie (Larson) Wojna, passed away on November 24, 2020, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, CT, on May 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Albin and Waleria (Jablonowski) Wojna.
Edward graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1948. He served in the Army and attended two years of trade school before working at Avco Lycoming as a manufacturing engineer. After working there for over 30 years, he retired in 1987.
Ed was an avid golfer. He often played with his brothers, nephews and friends in Connecticut and in his later years in Florida. He enjoyed teaching the finer aspects of the game to others. He also enjoyed ten pin bowling with family and friends.
Edward enjoyed keeping the landscape well-manicured year after year for both their Monroe house and later their Florida winter home. He always tended to a full vegetable garden in the summer. He worked on the construction of many additions to the Monroe house over the years, which gave him great fulfillment. That diligent worked ethic was passed on to his children.
Edward was a wonderful father and shared a beautiful life with his loving wife. He is survived by his beloved wife Elsie of 62 years, his devoted children, son Edward and daughter-in-law Jodette of Carson City, NV, and daughter Elaine Sherba and son-in-law Paul of Ansonia, CT, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Chester, Raymond, and Bennie and sisters Alberta, Regina, Anna, and Dorothy.
Due to the pandemic, services were held privately under the direction of the Spadaccino Funeral Home. Family and friends will be notified of a gathering in the future when it is safe to be together. We appreciate the overflowing love and support we have received at this exceedingly difficult time.
Dobranoc, Pan.
