Eileen left us after a lengthy struggle with a complex eating disorder and chronic depression.
She was born in Danbury, CT to Marie Donohue McGrath and William McGrath on January 25, 1970. She was raised in New Fairfield, CT attending school there from K-12, and graduating from NFHS in 1988. She attended Western CT State University and later received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Katharine Gibbs School. She worked as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for a number of local corporations during her professional years. A lover of music, animals, babies and children, Eileen had a soft and gentle heart and always saw the best in everyone. If she met you once, she remembered you. Eileen taught us all that even in suffering, you can still be kind.
Eileen is preceded in death by her cherished parents, grandparents, and several loved family members and friends who she longed to be reunited with.
Eileen is survived by her sister, Terri McGrath Bhatt, her brother, Tim McGrath (Debra), and her beloved nieces and nephew, Sara Bhatt, Kyle (Tabitha) McGrath, and Emma McGrath. She also leaves behind several cousins, an aunt and uncle, and a precious great-nephew, all of whom she held in her heart. Eileen is survived by her lifelong childhood best friend, Cindy Montalvo DeMato, who was by her side until the end, along with Elva and Jose Montalvo who were her second parents.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 pm– 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Spadaccino and Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the angels at Bethel Healthcare who cared for Eileen in her final years – especially Alison, Corinne, Lisa, Rosemary, Maria, Ana, Lee, and Orville. To Father Michael Dunn and Father Corey Piccinino for their friendship and spiritual support, and to Frank Abdulrehman and Bibi Alli for their patience and unwavering commitment to Eileen. Finally, our deepest gratitude to the many friends who stood by us as we stood by Eileen.
