Gail N. Northrop of Monroe, widow of the late James Northrop, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with numerous illnesses. She was born to the late John Ingram and surviving Norma Shields on January 8, 1945.
Family and friends were Gail’s passion and delight. She loved to host and entertain, and frequently welcomed those friends for dinner or board game nights. She also enjoyed relaxing in the sun poolside or on her back deck. What made her most happy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Gail is survived by her brother, William Shields, her children, Beth Volkmar (and Mike), Carissa Harris (and Chad), Ryan Northrop, Christopher Northrop, Jason Northrop, Danielle Cordova (and Pedro), and her grandchildren Peyton, Jake, Dakota, Cole, Karley, and Jordyn, as well as her ex-husband and friend Al Longobricco, and three nephews.
Gail requested a quiet ceremony in her memory and the family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her latest illness. The memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, CT at 515 Cutlers Farm Rd, Friday the 13th at 6pm. Directly following the service will be a gathering in her honor in the adjacent fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church.
