

George King, age 69 of Monroe, passed away on Monday, February 8th. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Caserta King. George was born in Bridgeport on July 13, 1946 to the late Margaret Palmer King & George A. King Sr.
George received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Bridgeport Engineering Institute & a MBA from the University of New Haven. George worked for such companies as Hubbell, Pfizer and Bigelow Tea, before owning his own High Temperature Wire and Cable Company. Upon selling his company, he worked with special education students for the Bridgeport school district.
George was known to family and friends as a “Mr. Fix-it”, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved working on “projects”, reading a good Science Fiction book and spending time with his family. George served his country as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve. He was an active member of the Monroe Jaycees for many years where he served as a Statesman.
In addition to his wife Barbara of 45 years, he is survived by his sons George King and his wife Denise of Monroe, and David King and his wife Marie of Woodbury. He is also survived by a sister, Ellen Kennedy and a niece and nephew Brianne and Michael Kennedy. George was “Da” to three much loved grandchildren, Angela, Anthony and Amelia.
Friends are invited to meet directly at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday February 12th at 10:30am. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Thursday February 11th from 4pm – 8pm, at Spadaccino & Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT.
