George Seward Marr Jr., age 70, of Monroe, Connecticut passed away on Tuesday July 17, 2018. George was born in 1948 to the late George and Louise Marr. George was raised in Southport, CT and graduated from Ludlowe High School in 1966. George went on to graduate from Fairfield University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science and received his Masters of Science Degree from Southern CT State University shortly there after. George retired as a chemist from Unilever.
George married Joan Corning in 1971 and raised their family in Stepney, CT. George enjoyed time with his family at home and providing grandpa daycare. Golf was one of George's favorite pastimes and was proud to be one of few lefty golfers. George also enjoyed skiing with family and friends and many great ski trips to Vermont. George and Joan experienced fun travels with their three kids and their best friends Kim and Linda Davies. George enjoyed the company of his brother Dan (the better golfer) and his wonderful wife Marie. George and Joan also enjoyed many trips while antiquing and sailing with good friends Janet and Paul Haringa. Memories with George will not be forgotten.
George is survived by his loving wife Joan, his son Colin and wife Christine, son, Adam and wife Candice and daughter Victoria and husband Imran. Along with his children George leaves behind 5 adorable grandchildren Aaron, Zoe Luna, Zander, Sebastian and Marlowe. In addition George is survived by his brother Dan Marr and wife Marie, his sister, Carol Bayus, and many nieces and nephews. George will be greatly missed by his dog Albert.
A visitation for George will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son, Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Connecticut 06468. Following the visitation there will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
