A longtime resident of Monroe, CT, and most recently of Granville, MA, Gloria was the beloved wife of John (Jack) Schaff and daughter of Helen and George Parish. Born in New Haven on November 10, 1932, she graduated from Shelton High School and studied at St, Vincent’s School of Nursing. After raising her six children, she was a dedicated teacher’s aide at both Stepney and Monroe Elementary Schools from 1970 to 2000.
Gloria was an earth angel, a Madonna. Her beatific smile graced everyone in her presence. A born nurturer, she lavished love on her family from her kitchen and outdid herself on holidays. Her highly personalized, homemade Christmas stockings are family treasures. Spectacularly loving and kind, she was especially in her element with children. To see her holding a grandchild or great-grandchild on her lap was to witness pure love and joy.
She is survived by her daughter and devoted caregiver, Robin Schaff Chacho; sons John Jr. (Sandy), Brian (Patti), Christian (Bonnie), and Eric (Lynda); seven adored grandchildren and six adorable great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son Timothy in 2016, sister Helen Parish Gumbulevich in 2018, and her loving husband of sixty-nine blessed years, John (Jack) on April 2, 2022.
The great times we all enjoyed together leave us with beautiful memories and endless love.
