

Helen Virginia (Roberts) Johnson, of Monroe, Connecticut, 90, passed away on May 2, 2012, at home peacefully with her beloved husband, Robert E. Johnson, and her devoted son James M. Johnson by her side.
Helen enjoyed being a homemaker. Her hobbies included antiquing, swimming, traveling with her family, and activities at the Monroe Senior Center.
She was born September 10, 1921, and lived in Middletown, Connecticut, with her parents the late Mae (Schultze) and Murrell D. Roberts. While living in Middletown, she was actively involved in Lady Washington Chapter #45, Order of the Eastern Star, and Mattabassett Grange. She worked with Mrs. Tucci in her Day Care Center, and also worked at Loewenthal Lumber, Nugent’s, and Bunces.
Helen is survived by her husband Robert E. Johnson, and her son James M. Johnson, also of Monroe, Connecticut. Helen is also survived by her daughter Donna (Dickes) Abdella, and her husband Norman of Chester, Vermont.
She is additionally survived by two grandchildren Steven F. White of Brookline, Vermont, and Robin R. White of Middletown, Connecticut; 6 great grandchildren (Rick Gullage, Kate Carlson, K.J White, Brian White, Mandy White, and Amy Spencer) and 2 great-great grandchildren.
