Jerome Robert Derwallis, age 86, of Monroe, died on November 15 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI, Jerome was a School Psychologist for the Town of Westport for over 30 years. He held degrees from Rhode Island School of Design, Boston University and Fairfield University. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Captain and was a rescue helicopter pilot during the Korean War. He was an accomplished watercolor artist and loved jazz and classical music. Jerome is survived by his wife Barbara, children Timothy, Jeffrey, Amy Van Dell and Lori Branning; sons-in-law John Van Dell and Byron Branning, daughters-in-law Joanne Derwallis and Alison Tavares, and seven grandchildren, Allison, Cathrynn, Jack, Eric, Erin, Thomas and Samantha. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00am at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
