A long-time resident of Monroe, CT, Jack was the beloved only child of Alice Carney Schaff and Jacob Schaff. Born in New Haven on January 3, 1931, he graduated from West Haven High School and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 1952. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after a long career.
Jack loved music and played saxophone and clarinet in a band throughout college. "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!" He was active in the Monroe community, coaching his sons' Little League teams and serving as secretary of the bowling league. In addition, he was an occasional Lecturer of Electrical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport. He was a Jack-of-all-trades!
More than anything, he loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-nine years, Gloria Parish Schaff; devoted daughter and caregiver Robin Schaff Chacho; sons John Jr., Brian, Christian and Eric (Lynda); seven adored grandchildren; and six adorable great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by son Timothy in 2016. The family is grateful to his nurse, Felix Diatta, for his exceptional care.
The great times we all enjoyed together leave us with amazing memories and boundless love.
