Born in Codeçoso, Montalegre, Portugal on October 8,1939, he was a son of the late Joaquim and Ana (Rua) Rosa and was a longtime resident of Monroe. Before his retirement, Jose worked for Local Labor #146 for many years. He loved being outdoors, spending time in his garden, doing home projects and lending a helping hand to anyone that needed it. His pride and joy was helping raise his grandchildren and getting to meet his first great grandchild. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grand father and uncle.
Jose is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Maria (Esteves), his son Arlindo Rosa and wife Nerci of Portugal, his daughter Cacilda and husband Antonio Pereira of Oxford, and his son Duarte Rosa and partner Jenny Jacobsen of Montana, his grandchildren Felicia, Antonio Jr., Lillian, and great granddaughter Evie, brother, Antonio Rosa (Ana) and sisters, Joaquina Dias, Maria Madeira, sister-in-law Augusta Rosa, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Joao Alves Rosa and Joaquim Rua Rosa.
