

She is survived by her son Michael (Laurie), Marnie Stevens (widow of David), sisters Marilyn Duchon, Cynthia Shenone, and Kristy Wilbur. She was loved and will be missed by many extended family members and friends.
Lucia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard; her son, David; her sister, Barbara Porreca; and her parents, the Reverend Herbert C. Meyer and Berniece Meyer.
She graduated from Wagner College in New York City and later earned her master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She taught in the public school system for 30 years, including 20 years working with special needs children. She was actively involved in the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Grace Lutheran Church in Tampa, Florida.
Funeral service will be held 2:30pm Sunday, March 15, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church, 111 Peter Road, Southbury, CT 06488 with reception immediately following.
Arrangements in Connecticut are by Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home. A small memorial service will be held in the fall in Tampa, FL with arrangements by Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood.
Flowers are welcome for the church during the Lenten season, or you may wish to donate to the Disabled Veterans Association (DAV.org) or to St. James Lutheran Church (https://stjamesct.org).
